Behind the scenes.
The idea
The idea of the image is to communicate the sensation of heat in the language of still life photography. There are only two elements present: a flower wilted by unbearable heat and the hot sun that fills everything with its dominant presence. There remains no room for anything else—everything would be burned down should it dare to enter the frame.

One of our biggest passions is our constant attempt to recreate the natural feel and look of natural lighting as realistically as possible. This is probably a never-ending undertaking, as there are so many different positions of the sun multiplied by each possible subtle nuance. The challenge is, of course, part of what makes it so exciting. Recreating the position of the sun just behind the subject, where it takes up a significant part of the frame and throws light directly into the camera in a studio environment, was one of our very important goals. We achieve this by utilising oval mirrors that redirect the artificial light directly to the camera.
Materials.
Paper.
For paper-based prints, we use our favorite paper from the most renowned German manufacturer: Hanemühe Photo Rag. This robust paper features a pronounced texture while still reproducing even the finest details.
Frame.
We use only high-quality, German-made frames in a neutral wooden tone.
Aluminium.
Aluminium is our preferred material for its high-quality reproduction, attractive aesthetics, and practicality. Best of all, no frame is needed—everything for mounting is included, resulting in an elegant, minimalist solution.
